If your mobility is limited you may benefit from a custom made brace. This includes patients with MS, stroke, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, CMT, spina bifida, neuropathy and osteoarthritis.
Our Certified Orthotists are able to fabricate just about any type of custom brace in our in-house lab. We commonly see patients for custom AFOs, KAFOs, SMOs, knee braces, wrist and arm braces and spinal braces.

Do I NEED a brace?
If you believe you could benefit from a device to aid you in your day to day mobility concerns then we can help you determine if bracing is the best course of action for you through an initial assessment. This could include concerns such as:
* Instability walking or standing
* History or risk of trips and/or falls
* Any discomfort, pain or weakness when moving or being still
* Any substantial amount of stiffness that limits your mobility
*Neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions such as MS, CP, stroke, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, osteoarthritis etc
Which brace is the best for ME?
Our Certified Orthotists are skilled assessors and able to make an informed decision for which brace would best help to treat your individual conditions. You need it? We've built it!
Lower Extremity Braces:
* Ankle foot orthoses (AFO)
* Knee ankle foot orthoses (KAFO)
* Hip ankle foot orthoses (HKAFO)
* Supramalleolar orthoses (SMO)
* Single area-affected braces (eg. Knee, ankle, etc)
Upper Extremity Braces:
* Wrist hand finger orthoses (WHFO)
* Wrist hand orthoses (WHO)
* Single area-affected braces ( eg. Wrist, shoulder, elbow, back and neck)
At our first visit, we will take the time to discuss your medical history, any previous experience with bracing, your lifestyle and goals. We will also want to see how you move, test how strong your muscles are, and determine if there are any restrictions to your movement. We will then work together with you, using the information gained from the assessment, to come up with the best possible solution to help you achieve your goals. At this appointment, we may also take a cast to capture the 3-dimensional shape of the limb. This first appointment typically takes 60-90 minutes.
We can also start the paperwork necessary to access funding through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
Since our custom braces are made in house it will take about 2-3 weeks to fabricate after the cast has been taken. This timeframe can differ slightly depending on the complexity of the device and availability of componentry needed.
The second appointment is typically when the fitting takes place. During this meeting, we work with you to ensure the orthosis has the right fit and feel to meet your needs. We can make any necessary adjustments or add “finishing touches” in our fabrication lab during the appointment.
You will never be charged for any of these appointments or follow-up appointments thereafter, as we are 100% committed to making sure you get the help you need.
