Custom Knee Brace

The Process: Custom Bracing

At your first visit, we will take the time to discuss your medical history, any previous experience with bracing, your lifestyle and goals. We will also want to see how you move, test how strong your muscles are, and determine if there are any restrictions to your movement. We will then work together with you, using the information gained from the assessment, to come up with the best possible solution to help you achieve your goals. At this appointment, we may also take a cast to capture the 3-dimensional shape of the limb. This first appointment typically takes 60-90 minutes.

We can also start the paperwork necessary to access funding through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

Since our custom braces are made in house it will take about 2-3 weeks to fabricate after the cast has been taken. This timeframe can differ slightly depending on the complexity of the device and availability of componentry needed.

The second appointment is typically when the fitting takes place.  During this meeting, we work with you to ensure the orthosis has the right fit and feel to meet your needs. We can make any necessary adjustments or add “finishing touches” in our fabrication lab during the appointment.

All of these appointments and any subsequent check ups are included in the cost of the device, as we are 100% committed to making sure you get the help you need.
