New parents have a lot of things on their plate, and worrying about their baby’s head shape shouldn’t be one of them. If your new baby has any sort of head shape deformity, such as a flat spot on the head, a cranial remolding helmet may be recommended.

If you have your own concerns regarding your baby's head shape or your pediatrician, family physician and/or nurse practitioner have requested a referral for a cranial helmet, we can help you with the first steps for care!
Cranial remolding helmets are devices used to help restore a more normal head shape for a baby. Babies with moderate, severe or very severe head shape deformities will start helmet therapy at 4-6 months of age.

Once the helmet has been fit, additional check up appointments are scheduled. At these appointments we will rescan and analyze with the software so that we can track the progress of the head growth.
The first step in evaluating your child's head shape is to take a 3D scan of the head. We work with Talee, a manufacturer and designer of software and 3D printed custom helmets. Our software objectively measures the extent of the deformity and is able to classify it as mild, moderate, severe or very severe. If helmet therapy is recommended then the scan is also the shape capture which the helmet is designed and made from.
After the initial assessment, we book your baby in on a timely schedule for the fitting and the check ups. The fitting is scheduled two weeks after the assessment appointment, the first two check ups are booked 2 weeks apart from each other, and subsequent check ups afterwards are scheduled four weeks apart. This is to ensure optimal timing for adjustments and rescanning to track progress.
